MARGAO: After discrepancies pointed out in the budget by Raia gram sabha members, the village panchayat has been forced to prepare a revised budget and another gram sabha will be called to approve it.
“We have taken serious note of the discrepancies raised by the gram sabha members and accordingly a revised budget for the
next financial year will be prepared,” said Judas Quadros, Sarpanch, Raia village panchayat.
At the gram sabha held on Sunday, several flaws were pointed out by the members, resulting in an uproar at the meeting. Few villagers had pointed out the flaws in the budget and demanded explanation from the panchayat secretary.
Irked with the approach towards the budget, villagers demanded for a budget that is technically correct. The villagers alleged that the figures shown in the budget were mismatching and hence not acceptable.
“Panchayat has no issues in preparing a fresh budget and that will be done accordingly. A fresh budget will be placed before the gram sabha members on March 26 for an approval,” informed the sarpanch, when contacted.
