Railways-PWD dispute leaves Margao flyover riddled with potholes

MARGAO: The dispute between South Central Railways and the Public Works Department of Goa over the maintenance of the Margao flyover has led to undue delay in the upkeep of the flyover.
The flyover is used by the locals and tourists every day. The attitude of authorities has kept the much-needed maintenance on hold. Following a letter by GOACAN that the flyover is riddled with potholes, the deputy collector has decided to hold an inspection of the flyover on October 4.
The decision was taken at a meeting attended by Assistant Director Transport (Enforcement) Mohan Gaude, Margao Traffic PI Laxmikant Parsekar, EE PWD (NH) and GOACAN representative Lorna Fernandes. The representatives of Konkan Railway, TCP and Fire and Emergency played truant.
The PWD informed that the potholes on the flyover have been filled and that there was no problem. The GOACAN representatives disagreed and requested that a site inspection be carried out.
