MARGAO: The farmers of Nagoa village have demanded that the Agriculture Department inspects their flooded fields and offer them compensation as all their crops have been completely damaged.
While speaking to media persons, the farmers added that the situation is so bad that they fear they may not be able to grow their crops again as they have faced similar issues earlier.

Their biggest problem here is that the drains are too narrow and hampers the flow of water into the sea.
“The problem has occurred because of the road widening and the pipes for water to flow are too narrow. This inundates the fields and takes days for the water to recede thus damaging the crops,” said a farmer.
Former Nagoa Panch Anzil Godinho said no one had paid heed to his past warnings about the damages that would be caused to the fields due to the flawed expansion of the road.
He hoped that the authorities would wake up and find remedial measures and see to it that the farmers don’t suffer again.
