Rally organised in Mapusa against CAA

MAPUSA: Under the banner of Bahujan Kranti Morcha, hundreds of people from held a peaceful protest rally against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in Mapusa on Wednesday.
The rally commenced from Gandhi circle, marched towards Mapusa court and wound up at the old Mapusa municipal building under the watchful of eye of the police. The participants shouted slogans against CAA as the marched through the town. 
A delegation later submitted a memorandum to the Bardez Mamlatdar demanding the withdrawal of CAA and NRC.
Firoz Khan, a protester, said that the government is destroying the Constitution of India. “They are trying to change the Constitution, but we are not going to allow this. Not only Muslims, but all the communities in India are going to suffer if CAA and NRC is implemented. Due to CAA even after residing in India for years, we will be forced to prove our Indian citizenship,” he said.
“CAA is against the Preamble of India Constitution and we are against it. Government came up with demonetisation and it failed. It was we (common man) who suffered. Now again due to CAA and NRC we are forced to come on streets. We demand that CAA and NRC be withdrawn immediately,” another protester said.
