Ram Mandir should not be political issue: Gadkari
HERALD REPORTER
PANJIM, MAY 8
Bharatiya Janata Party’s national president Nitin Gadkari has said that Ram Mandir should not be an issue of political party and Central government should take amicable stand in this matter.
“Ram Mandir is not an issue of any political party. It’s a subject matter of Sadhu Sant and citizens. The Union government should adopt an amicable approach to settle this issue. We have to rise above politics and act without linking it to the vote bank politics,” Gadkari told a local news channel here.
In the interview with Prudent Media which was aired on Friday, Gadkari has said that Lord Ramchandra is a symbol of faith of millions. “Whatever happened in the history on this issue should be forgotten and we should march ahead,” Gadkari said indirectly referring to the violence that followed demolition of Babri Masjid.
The BJP President said that the party will stand by its ideology irrespective whether it fetches votes or not. “Power is not our ultimate aim. Power is mean to attain objective and not the objective itself. Does anyone die without a power?,” he questioned.
Gadkari was down in Goa recently to address a public meeting. Rejuvenating the party cadre in the state, where BJP is in opposition, the national President had said that the party will reach to the section of voters including minority.
He said that the party is making grounds in South India and people’s sentiments towards inflation have made them follow BJP.
