MARGAO: TCP Minister Vishwajit Rane hit out at GPCC President Amit Patkar while continuing to criticise Leader of the Opposition Michael Lobo for alleged corruption.
Rane, who was attending a BJP function here, also spoke about the measures he has taken to protect Goa’s heritage structures and also commented on the sale of Zuari Agro Chemicals Limited (ZACL) and functioning of municipalities.
Rane asked who Patkar was to question him and tell him what he as the TCP Minister should do.
He also pointed out that the Congress president has not won any election, is not an MLA or a panch and that he is just a mining contractor while he (Rane) had done his MBA.
“Amit Patkar and Michael Lobo, the two of them have bought the Congress. Michael has not even completed three months in Congress. They (Patkar and Lobo) made a deal with the party. That is why senior Congress leaders like Digambar Kamat have been made to sit at home. There were others too, like Sankalp Amonkar etc. Congress is zero, they have no value,” claimed Rane.
Rane warned that he will not allow anybody to get away with corruption. “The law is the same for everyone. Be it Mika Singh or Michael Lobo. We won’t forgive anyone and action will be taken against them,” he said.
The TCP Minister reiterated that all the facts regarding ODPs will be placed in the Assembly following which all will come to know about the wrongdoings. He cited an example saying there is data on how many lands were converted during the tenure of Lobo as the NGPDA chairman.
Taking an indirect dig at Goa Forward Party (GFP) President and MLA Vijai Sardesai over the issue of sale of Zuari Agro Chemicals Ltd (ZACL), Rane said that his department will certainly look into it.
“The Chief Minister will have to look into it as it is related to multi-departments and then action if necessary has to be taken,” he added.
The Urban Development Minister said he will soon convene a meeting of all chairpersons and chief officers of municipalities to review their functioning.
He was responding to queries about complaints against the Margao Municipal Council (MMC).
