PANJIM: Activists were in for a rude shock after hearing on the illegal bungalow in the world heritage precincts of Old Goa was adjourned on Monday.

The activists charged that the inaction of the State government on the illegal bungalow looks like a ‘jhumla,’ and demanded that like Curlies Restaurant at Anjuna, the illegal bungalow at Old Goa should be demolished.

The activists under the banner of Save Old Goa Action Committee had gone to the office of the Additional Director of Panchayats Snehal Goltekar for the hearing. But much to the annoyance of activists Goltekar adjourned the matter on September 26, at 4 pm, as they had to attend the training programme for the newly elected panchayat members from North Goa.

A notice put up on the notice board read, “In all the above cases, where the stay has been granted, the same stands extended till the next date of hearing.”

As soon as the matter was adjourned the protestors alleged that the matter was being continuously adjourned without reason. It was a waste of people’s time and money.

They called for the revocation of the technical licence and demolition of the illegal bungalow by the Town and Country Planning (TCP) Department.
