PANJIM: The State government on Wednesday informed the High Court of Bombay at Goa that it has recovered pending dues from the organisers of TimeOut72 Electronic Dance Music (EDM) festival.
The government made this oral submission during the hearing of a Public Interest Litigation filed by activist Trajano D’Mello. The petitioner had alleged that the organisers were allowed to hold the event at Vagator in 2017 without paying security deposit and the decision of the State Level Permission Committee was bypassed by the Tourism Minister “for reason best known to him and he allowed the EDM event without taking security deposit.”
The court had then issued a notice to the Goa government over non-recovery of Rs 1.5 crore from the organisers, in the hearing held on January 15.
On Wednesday, when the matter was further heard, the government while stating that it had recovered the pending dues assured the High Court to pursue with the organisers on the cheque bounce aspect. The matter has been adjourned for next hearing on February 12.
