MARGAO: Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco today objected to hike in ticket fare in Suvidha Express running between Vasco and Vailankinni. The MLA visited Margao Railway Station to inquire about the sudden rise in ticket prices in the train. He met the Public Relation Officer of Konkan Railways Baban Ghatge and other officials.
MLA Reginaldo felt that the practice of increasing ticket fares on the basis of increase in passenger traffic was not a good practice. The MLA has warned of holding a morcha at the railway station if the ticket fare is not controlled.
“The rates in the past were between Rs 450 and Rs 500 and now they are planning to increase it to Rs 650. This is wrong and we will complain to the government,” said Reginaldo.
Konkan Railway PRO explained that Suvidha Express train running between Vasco and Vailankanni comes under South Indian railways jurisdiction and Konkan Railways has no control over its ticket fare.
While interacting to media MLA Reginaldo vowed to take up the issue with both the Members of Parliament and Ayush Minister Shripad Naik.
“I will also write a letter to the General Manager of South Indian railway and also to Railway Minister to reconsider the increase in fares,” he said.
