PANJIM: While addressing the participants of the orientation cum training programme for counsellors, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that the task of rehabilitation of these COVID affected people is the most valuable job.
“This is a task that is different from routine work and needs to be accomplished with sincerity and affection, ” said the CM at the programme held at Institute Menezes Braganza hall in Panjim on Thursday.
These trainee participants will visit the homes and families of over 3,180 COVID-19 affected victims all over the State, said the officials who had conducted the programme. The Directorate of Social Welfare (DSW) in collaboration with Directorate of Health Services (DHS), Directorate of Women & Child Development, Directorate of Education, and Directorate of Higher Education had organised the training programme.
During his address, the CM also touched upon how the COVID pandemic was an unexpected one and how it led to the untimely deaths of many people in the State.
“The government has decided to give ex-gratia relief of Rs 1 lakh to the COVID affected families in the State. Among the COVID affected people, most of them would be in need of financial assistance or support while the rest of them would be in need of mental support,” said Sawant.
