Rehabilitation of Talsanzor and Moti Dongor structures

When Manohar Parrikar visited Fatorda a year ago accompanied by local Independent MLA Vijai Sardesai, he was literally moved when a group of women inhabitants from Talsanzor hillock pleaded with him to save their structures. Parrikar had promised the beleaguered women that his government would not put any Goan on the streets. The issue was again raised in the Goa Legislative Assembly by the Independent MLA earlier this year, only to be reassured that the government will not put anyone on the streets. With Parrikar no more at the helm of affairs, questions are being raised on whether the new BJP government will honour the promise made by the former chief minister to the residents of Talsanzor. The residents of neighbouring Moti Dongor were also looking forward to Parrikar for their rehabilitation. In fact, they had pinned their hopes on Parrikar to save their structures from demolition. Even a sizeable number of voters inhabiting the hillock had voted for the BJP in the 2014 Lok Sabha poll hoping that the Parrikar government will bail them out. They are now keeping their fingers crossed with Parrikar making way for Laxmikant Parsekar.
