MARGAO: Offering much relief to the senior citizens of the village, the Betalbatim panchayat has constructed a walking ramp with a railing at the beach for the elderly, who go for their morning and evening walks to the beach.

At the short inauguration held on Thursday, Sarpanch Anthony Fernandes said the panchayat had received a proposal in this regard as senior citizens fell while trying to head towards the beach.
As there was a height difference, steps were placed in this ramp for the senior citizens to walk down.
The Sarpanch thanked the hard work of the Village Development Committee chairman Jose for taking the proposal forward and his fellow panchas including the ward member.
He appealed to the public not to damage the ramp and keep it for the senior citizens only.
He said the panchayat is committed to solving the problems of the villagers.
