PONDA: Health Minister Vishwajeet Rane on Friday inaugurated the renovated building of Usgao-Ganjem Panchayat.
The building compromises gymkhana and a hall sponsored by MRF and Emerck Pharmaceutical, respectively.
On the occasion, the minister said that he had checked all markets including Margao, Panjim and Ponda and that he did not find formalin in fish.
The minister also promised to upgrade the facilities at all the hospitals in Goa, provide doctors and recruit necessary staff.
He informed that the government has approved Rs 30 crore for the beautification of Usgao Panchayat which lacked development since past many years. “The beautification works include providing various facilities, improving gutters, providing pavers, improving of health facilities at Usgao, improving street lights and better road facilities,” he said.
He said that the dilapidated Tisk Usgao market would be demolished and new one would be constructed in its place. In this regard, he said, a meeting is scheduled next month in Usgao Panchayat which would be addressed by TCP Minister Vijay Sardesai and after suggestions of locals plan would be finalised.
Meanwhile, Rane accused the Congress of making frivolous allegations on formalin issue in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
