Residents Alarmed as Sewage Water Flows Openly Near Hotel in Vagator

A hotel in Vagator, ‘Vagator Downtown’ faces scrutiny following a complaint about sewage overflow that is causing environmental pollution and posing health risks to nearby residents. The complaint, submitted by local resident Mr. Laximan P. Gadekar, states that sewage or sullage water is flowing openly on the road near the hotel, attributed to an overflowing septic tank or soak pit. This has led to stagnant wastewater discharge into the surrounding area, resulting in a foul smell and public nuisance. Despite several complaints to the health department, no action was taken.

In response, the Anjuna-Caisua Village Panchayat has taken cognizance of the issue and issued a notice to the proprietor of Hotel Vagator. Panchayat officials will carry out an inspection of the premises to verify the complaint and take necessary actions in accordance with environmental and health regulations. This step aims to address the grave concerns raised by residents over hygiene and pollution caused by improper sewage management.

Local residents await the results of the upcoming inspection and hope that corrective measures will prevent future occurrences of sewage spills and related hazards.
