PONDA: Retaining wall of Tank of historic Safa Masjid at Ponda’ Shapur collapsed due to heavy rain at 6.30 pm on Thursday evening. The collapsed portion poses danger to Safa Masjid and needs immediate attention by Archeology Survey of India said Sarpanch Rsjesh Naik.
The Masjid is situated on edge of protection wall of tank of the Safa Masjid. Naik said a lot of tourists in India visit the famous site and not only Muslims but all Goans are also emotionally connected to this Masjid. Sarpanch expressed surprise over its damage saying that every year Archaeology conduct maintenance work on it.
