PANJIM: Following Statewide criticism based on Herald report, the Revenue Department has clarified that it has notified 56 revenue villages as urban areas under Section 2(38) of Goa Land Revenue Code 1968 (LRC).
The Revenue Department has also clarified that the 56 villages are census towns as per census 2011. The notification simply adopted revenue villages which are the census town as urban area without any additional criteria.
