PORVORIM: The Minister for Revenue, Labour and IT, Jennifer Monserrate launched a fiery defence to the charged levelled against her reply at the Assembly session regarding her departments’ performance.

It is to be noted that she was speaking after 1 am as the Assembly session had gone past Thursday midnight.
The Minister gave point by point clarifications to the questions that were asked by former Revenue and IT Minister Rohan Khaunte.
Regarding the start up policy, she said that 150 start up companies had applied, out of which 111 were certified, and 41 were incentivised. She further gave the year-by-year-break up of the Rs 11.69 crore funds given since 2018, where in the last year, between April 20 and March 21, Rs 65 lakhs had been disbursed.
She further added that as per the figures of August 2020, 788 people had gained employment out of which 558 are Goans.
Khaunte and Monserrate got into discussion over the nature of the complaints filed by the Porvorim MLA where Khaunte claimed the minister had not fully understood what he was saying, while Monserrate replied saying that Khaunte was the one trying to create confusion, not her.
Monserrate also said that officials of the Revenue Department had been on the ground continuously to carry out and assist relief work during the recent floods.
Earlier she had informed the Leader of Opposition Digamabar Kamat as well as Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai that maintenance works at the South Goa District Collectorate building were underway.
She also informed Kamat that applicants seeking various certificates with the Revenue department can do it online as well as offline and that there are village-level entrepreneurs had been appointed to help people who have difficulties with online related processes.
She also informed others like Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco that the department had been taking stock of pre monsoon works and that the Chief Minister had chaired a disaster management meeting in April to assess the State’s preparedness for natural calamities.
