Ribeiro quits RP committee

Former Town Planner Edgar Ribeiro on Thursday submitted his resignation from the State-level steering committee formed to finalise the Regional Plan 2021 after expressing his displeasure over non-implementation of several clauses proposed by him.
Edgar, who was a member of the Task Force and advisor to the chief minister, in his letter has mentioned that the RP was seriously dented because some of the suggestions put forward by the Task Force were never incorporated.
In the letter the town planner said one clause calling for a halt to big constructions till the draft RP was finalised was never considered. His second demand was that all public private partnership projects be brought under the ambit of the RP. This too was never considered which left Ribeiro frustrated.
Ribeiro also made a demand for bringing the whole of Goa under the RP because a major chunk of land which came under municipalities was left out of the planning process. The town planner also had his reservations on the zoning in municipal areas because the same were not carried out as per recommendations of the Task Force.
