CANACONA: The Canacona Municipal Council (CMC) will receive developmental funds of Rs 1.69 crore for various works in the municipality.
Tenders for laying pavers, repair of minor roads and gutters, besides renovating a crematorium at Nagarcem will be floated before the Election Code of Conduct for the Lok Sabha polls comes into effect.
According to CMC Chairperson Mahadev Dessai, a sanction letter was received from the Director of Municipal Administration stating that developmental funds to the tune of Rs 1.69 crore had been approved for CMC.
“The sanction letter was received last Friday and the tender for the developmental works which are spread in all the 10 wards will be taken in a day or two, and the work will start in due time,” Dessai told Herald.
Dessai, who praised Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza and DMA Elvis Gomes, said this was for the second time in his short term that another set of developmental works had been approved for the CMC in this financial year.
“Previously, it was Rs 1.08 crore covering developmental works in all municipal wards, for which various works are underway. With the two grants, the total funds allotted to the CMC during my tenure have been Rs 2.77 crore,” he said.
