MARGAO: There was a major ruckus at Cavelossim after children, who were visiting Goa, for a cricket tournament, were allegedly treated badly at private hotel.
A total of 500 people were in Goa for the Goa Super Cup 2016, and this comprised of 300 children, coaches, organisers, parents, among other people.
The children, aged between 9 and 17, who were staying at a hotel in Cavelossim, have complained that they were treated badly and that there was no power supply and issues with the water supply as well.
Aditya Kapil, whose 14-year-old son Uday Kapil said that, in some cases, guests had to sleep outside the room and that the hotel management failed to address the crisis. He also said that there was no power and water supply for the days they were staying at the hotel. He added that repeated complaints to the hotel were met with empty promises, while efforts to contact the hotel owner by the guests were futile, and he failed to turn up to answer the complaints of the guests.
Kapil further pointed out that when guests asked for a refund, they were told to ask the trip organisers and travel companies for refunds.
He said, “The issue here is that so many children have come to Goa. When you send your children out of the state, you expect that all their requirements are met. The basic issue of shelter and other issues at the hotel were not sorted and this left the children traumatised.”
The guests, however, felt the organisers of the tournament had done a great job in helping the visitors sort out the issues.
