MARGAO: Ruckus was witnessed on Tuesday at Nuvem following an accident between car and scooter on Tuesday morning, wherein a school student got injured besides the parent.
Citizens have demanded that the road be closed during the school hours and divert the vehicles through the western bypass.
At the accident site, tussle was also witnessed between the people and the car driver. Citizens also charged the police for arriving 45 minutes late at the site. Later, Gautam Salunke, Police Inspector, Traffic Cell, Margao also rushed to the site.
Speaking to reporters’ citizens have also complained about the rash driving by several commuters over here, despite having rumbles and requested the authorities to have speed breakers instead of rumbles.
As per the information shared by the citizens at the site, the collision between the car and the two-wheelers was reported in the morning, wherein the scooterist was on his way to drop his kid to the nearby school at Nuvem. Both parent and child got injured and later shifted to the Hospicio hospital for further treatment.
“There are nearly four educational institutions on the stretch at Nuvem. We can witness rash driving over here, despite having the rumbles on the road. These rumbles are just useless and the authority needs to have a speed breaker over here, so that there is a safety of the students and citizens,” said one of the citizens at the site.
Rosario Colaco, another local, said that this road is being used for crossing by the students. The authorities should divert the vehicles towards the western bypass during the school hours.
Gautam Salunke, PI also accepted that rash driving is a common phenomenon on this route.
“I have also had a word with some of the educational institutional heads over here to assist in monitoring the traffic during the school hours, just like in Margao city,” he said.
He also appealed to the citizens and the students to use the subways built there for crossing the road.
