Rumdamol episode: Sena, youth demand probe

MARGAO: The Shiv Sena and the members of a Hindu association along with a group of youth, who have been accused of creating tension at Rumdamol and Housing board met the Superintendent of Police Shekhar Prabhudessai and demanded inquiry into the entire episode.  Manoj Walke and Baburai Naik, members of a Hindu association — and Sudesh Bhise of the Shiv Sena have alleged that slogans of ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ were shouted at the rally which led to the problem.
The youth have demanded action into their complaints.  Meanwhile, SP Prabhudessai accepted the complaint copy submitted by the group and has decided to hold a meeting with the South District Collector at the earliest.
Tension had erupted at Rumdamol Davorlim and Housing Board following the banners of celebration of Tipu Sultan birth anniversary, which were put up by youth in the Rumdamol Davorlim Panchayat area.
There was commotion and it turned into a law and order like situation after a group of youth allegedly took out a rally from an area where they allegedly shouted slogans of “Pakistan Zindabad”.
The group met the SP and complained about the traffic and other problems at Rumdamol on Fridays and also on the announcements made on speakers.
The SP said, “As far as use of speakers, there is a High Court guideline not to use and create loud noises beyond certain decibels and hence if there is a provision we will take action”.
Walke said, “The incident noticed in Rumdamol Davorlim looked harmless but in fact such incidents are boiling the situation in the areas and there has to be action to control the communal unrest”.
