Rumdamol P’yat to get 2 wet garbage processing plants by Aug 17: Min

MARGAO: Two wet garbage processing plants of 1 ton each in the jurisdiction of Rumdamol Housing Board panchayat will be installed on August 17, informed Navelim MLA Luizinho Faleiro, as on Monday he along with the officials of concerned government departments inspected the site.
Officials of the Public Works Department, Electricity Department, besides the Water Resources Department, and panchayat members were present at the time of inspection. He also instructed the officials of the Power Department to install the remaining two transformers assured by the department at the earliest.
Speaking to the media, Luizinho said in order to resolve the menace of the garbage two waste treatment plants will be installed by August 17, with a capacity of 1 ton each. He also instructed the Power Department to make proper arrangements of power supply for the said garbage plants.
“Dry and wet garbage will be segregated in the plant, besides there will be a facility of incineration. The road to the plant has been already done. The functioning of the garbage treatment plants will begin within five or six days, soon after the installation”, he informed.  
Luizinho said that there is a need to handle the garbage issue seriously as it can lead to major health hazardous.
“There are people who are just engaged in taking videos of the garbage dumped and making it viral, but such type of people don’t try to resolve the issue”, he stated.
He further said that the biggest challenges in the Rumdamol Housing Board are sewerage and garbage problems. “The sewerage problem is settled as it is connected to the sewerage plant. But the garbage problem still continues and it is worst”, he said.
“I am happy that the Sarpanch Avita Chodankar along with the panchayat members, PWD roads, Electricity Department, and others are working together for completion of fully functional garbage processing centre to segregate dry and wet waste, and process the same with two tons wet garbage processor, and incinerator”, he stated.
MLA strongly objected to the people from other villages dumping garbage in Rumdamol and Housing Board areas. Sarpanch Avita Chodankar thanked Luizinho for expediting the works.
