Colva police rushed to Maria hall, Benaulim as a scuffle between a group of Russians and locals threatened to turn into a major law and order problem.
The incident occurred this evening when the Russian group allegedly assaulted a local after an unknown person allegedly played prank with a female member of the group.
As the sturdy built Russian built nationals were found assaulting the local person, locals from the Maria hall junction area intervened on behalf of the local and questioned them over the assault.
As the issue threatened to snowball into a major law and order problem, the Colva police rushed to Maria hall and lifted both the groups to the police station.
When contacted, PI Sidhant Shirodkar informed that the Russian group and the local, who became the victim of their fury, have compromised after realising that the entire episode occurred over a misunderstanding.
He said that the local was in no way involved in playing prank with the Russian lady, adding that he has asked the Russian to lodge a complaint against the unknown person who played the prank on them.
