MARGAO: South Goa Zilla Panchayat at its monthly meeting held on Wednesday passed the resolution to blacklist contractors for delay in completing public work.
In the meeting chaired by chairperson Suvarna Tendulkar, where most ZP members also brought to the notice of the chairperson that despite several reminders contractors are least bothered to complete the works assigned to them.
Zilla Panchayat also decided to urge the government to appoint full-time executive engineers, assistant engineers, in the absence of which works get hampered.
ZP member Ulhas Tuenkar said, “It was noticed that the contractorprolong the work for no reason. We are answerable to the people.”
Many members resolved to issue the work tenders before the Code of Conduct for the next general assembly elections.
Suvarna said “Members have presented their proposals with regards to the developmental works in their constituencies. Zilla Panchayat has taken a resolution to issue the tenders of works at earliest keeping in mind the fast-approaching General Assembly elections in Goa.”
