PANJIM: Hotelier Gaurish Dhond will take over as the District Governor of Rotary Clubs District 3170 from Thursday.
Dhond is the third Goan to take over as Rotary Club District Governor after Dr Athaide Lobo (1976-1977) and Dr Vinaykumar Pai Raikar (2016-2017).
On the eve of assuming the new charge, Dhond gave details of various projects he intends to undertake comprising entire Goa and parts of Maharashtra and Karnataka.
Dhond said that Rotary International president Shekhar Mehta’s brainchild — Rotary India literacy mission will be implemented in the District to make every citizen literate by 2025.
Dhond said that his core area will be supporting girl child in her education till graduation, empowering women, vision for all supporting cataract operations, organising blood donations camps and blood banks and public health care providing dialysis machines, beds, oxygen cylinders to hospitals.
Dhond said that Rotary Club will also support the hospitals by providing the required equipments to combat the predicted third wave of Coronavirus. He said that the blood donations camps will be organised by all Rotary Clubs in the district by July end.
