PONDA: Goa Dairy Chairman Madhav Sahakari was voted on Thursday in a no-confidence motion moved by eight directors. When the motion was put to vote by show of hands, eight directors voted in favour of the motion, while three voted against.
Harish Naik, an official from Registrar of Cooperative Societies was the presiding officer for the voting.
After the voting, Sahakari said that the motion against him was moved by submitting written allegations, but he was denied the opportunity to reply to the allegations before the motion was put to vote.
When asked why they moved a no confidence motion against Sahakari, Vithoba Desai, speaking behalf of the eight directors, said that the ousted chairman did not take them into confidence before taking three important decisions.
He said that the eight directors were not against conducting an inquiry into the affairs of Goa Dairy, but they should be given sufficient and reliable evidence for conducting the inquiry. “Mere allegations cannot be reasons for inquiry,” he maintained.
Desai also rejected demand of dairy farmers to dissolve the BoD and appoint administrator for Goa Dairy. He said that the Board of Directors are duly elected representatives; therefore, the BoD cannot be dissloved. “The BoD will elect a new chairman very soon,” he added.
