MARGAO: South Goa District Collector office, in an assessment, report stated that the Cyclone Tauktae havoc has caused a damage of around Rs 18.7 lakh to the private properties of Salcete as compared to the other talukas of the South Goa district.
Mamlatdar-in-Collectorate, South Goa District Gaurav S Gaounkar on Tuesday submitted the assessment report to the Under Secretary, Revenue Department.
According to the report in South Goa nearly Rs 47.87 lakh worth of private property has damaged due to the cyclone Tauktae and Salcete taluka tops the list in losses incurred. The properties of Murmugao taluka have suffered a loss of Rs 7.16 lakh, whereas in Dharbandora only Rs 40,000 loss is reported.
Ponda reported the damage of worth Rs 8.60 lakh, and the properties worth Rs 4.95 lakh have been damaged in Sanguem taluka.
Cyclone Tauktae rampaged through the State and nothing was spared on its way. Hundreds of trees got uprooted and number of power lines got snapped in the cyclonic winds. The assessment report of the district collector also states that in Quepem taluka the loss of private property is estimated to nearly Rs 3.85 lakh, while Canacona has reported loss amounting to nearly Rs 4.83 lakh.
As per the report, there is no mention of damage to government property in any of the South Goa talukas. The column which was supposed to fill the amount of loss to government property is shows nil.
