Sale, serving of liquor beyond 10 pm prohibited

Any violations of the directions may be reported to the office of the District Election Officer, Panjim

PANJIM: Ahead of the village panchayat elections, the District Magistrate has imposed prohibitory orders on the sale and serving of liquor beyond 10 pm till the Model Code of Conduct is in force. 

The liquor bars, pubs, shops, clubs, shacks and any establishments serving or selling liquor come under the ambit of the order. However, such establishments can remain open and continue to operate without the sale and service of liquor beyond 10 pm. 

“This order will not apply to those establishments, provision stores etc., which are required by law to be closed before 10 pm. This order will be applicable in all the village panchayat areas excluding village panchayat Alorna, Casarvarnem and Chandel Hassapur in Pernem Taluka, Harvalem Village Panchayat in Bicholim Taluka, Taleigao Village Panchayat in Tiswadi Taluka, all municipal areas in North Goa District and the Corporation of the City of Panaji. Any violations of the above directions may be reported to the office of the District Election Officer, Panjim,” reads the order.
