VALPOI: A 19 year-old resident of Saleli one Dattaprasad Gaonkar died while another rider was seriously injured in an accident involving three vehicles at Redeghati, Valpoi on Thursday. The locals said a jeep laden with LPG cylinders, which was over-speeding in the wrong direction, hit two vehicles.
The impact was such that Dattaprasad, who was riding a scooter, sustained serious injuries and died while undergoing treatment in the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim. Another motorcyclist was admitted in the GMC in a critical condition.
Valpoi Police conducted the panchanama and have booked the jeep driver.
It is pertinent to note that several accidents have occurred in the past on the above pothole-ridden road.
