PANJIM: The National Students Union of India (NSUI) Goa has demanded that the Class X and XII Board exams be either conducted online or postponed given that the active cases have crossed 5,680 cases and that 2 lakh new cases were registered throughout India in 24 hours. They also said the Centre had cancelled the CBSE Class X Board exams and postponed the Class XII exams.
In a statement issued on Thursday, NSUI North Goa President Naushad Chowdhari pointed to the single-day highest spike in Goa and that patients in Goa are struggling to get admitted as beds are full and admitted patients are sleeping on the floor in GMC.

“In this situation CM should first focus and work in management of COVID and make sure that this situation comes under control and once the COVID-19 numbers come down, he should think of conducting board exams. Further, if the CM wants to do away with these board exams then he should conduct these exams in online mode not offline mode,” he added.
“Earlier Ministry of Education, Govt of India announced that CBSE Boards of Class X will be cancelled and Class XII will be postponed till June so taking these decision into consideration many states have cancelled/postponed their state board exams , CM should follow this and implement in Goa,” said Chowdhari.
NSUI feared that the exams could lead to a further increase in cases, which could lead to a disaster in Goa.
