Saligao Police have nabbed a chain snatcher from Uttarakhand who allegedly snatched a gold chain with lockets from PDA Colony, Porvorim. On December 25, 2025, a snatching case was registered at Saligao Police Station vide Crime No. 43/25 under Sections 304(2) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, based on a complaint filed by Mrs Medha Agshikar, a resident of PDA Colony, Porvorim.
The complainant stated that at around 08:30 hrs, while she was at her grocery shop, Medha Niwas, two unknown persons arrived on a two-wheeler. On the pretext of buying a cold drink, they snatched a gold chain with three lockets from her neck and fled.

During the investigation, the accused was identified as Abdul Rahman, 32, a resident of Manglaur, Haridwar, Uttarakhand. A police team was deputed to Uttarakhand, and with the assistance of Manglaur Police Station, the accused was arrested from his house on December 31 at around 05:00 hrs. Four days’ transit remand was obtained.
The accused was produced before the JMFC Court, Mapusa, where four days’ police custody was granted. Further investigation is in progress.
