PONDA: PWD Minister Sudin Dhavlikar has claimed that the Sanatan Sanstha was being dragged into the Dr Dabholkar murder case for politically motivated reasons.
Dhavlikar was replying to media queries on police investigations regarding the possible role of Sanatan Sanstha in the murder of anti-superstition activist Dr Narendra Dabholkar, during the sidelines of a function to launch the sewage tanker facility for residents of Ponda.
“The culprits must be punished, but Sanatan Sanstha is working for upliftment of their religion. There are various organisations which are working for the betterment of their respective religions and they cannot be banned from doing so,” stated Dhavlikar.
“The Sanatan is being dragged into the case by politicians with vested interest,” said Dhavlikar.
Sanatan Sanstha has its headquarters and ashram at Ramnathi-Bandora in Marcaim constituency, which is represented by Dhavlikar.
When asked how Sanatan Sanstha figured in the alleged conspiracy, Dhavlikar replied: “It is because of the politicians.”
