PANJIM: The High Court of Bombay at Goa has directed the managing committee of the Shantadurga Higher Secondary School, Sancoale to appoint Anita Desai as In-Charge Headmistress of the school within two weeks and quashed and set aside the appointment of Mario Diniz as the in-charge headmaster.
The Division Bench comprising Justices Revati Mohite Dere and M S Jawalkar further directed the school management that as and when regular Departmental Promotional Committee (DPC) is conducted, to consider the petitioner’s claim for regular promotion of the headmistress considering the strength of students and as per the provisions of law.
Desai by a writ petition had challenged Diniz’s appointment as in-charge headmaster since he was junior to her in the seniority list under the Feeder Cadre.
The petitioner stated that in 2018 when the then headmistress had proceeded on leave, the charge was handed over to her for 45 days.
After the death of the then headmistress Sandhya Redkar in July last year, the post of the headmistress was not filled on regular basis for the last seven months.
