MARGAO: The Maina-Curtorim police apprehended a Sarzora man and seized a tipper truck on Tuesday for engaging in the illegal extraction and transportation of sand from the riverbed in Curtorim.
Acting on a tip-off, a team led by PSI Varsha Naik Dessai intercepted the truck driver Manuel Fernandes, 43, along with the materials on the road near Barashow Hospital, Curtorim. According to the police, Fernandes was involved in the unauthorised extraction and transportation of sand without a transit pass from the competent authority. The investigation is underway under the supervision of PI Ravi Dessai.
