Sanghatana criticises ‘hollow’ State Ambedkar Jayanti celebrations

PANJIM:  Lashing out at the State for their ‘hollow’ celebrations of the birth anniversary of Babasaheb Ambedkar, the Akhil Gomantak Mahargan Mashaba Sanghatana criticised the government for using police force to block their planned protests on Wednesday.

They said Goa has been liberated for nearly sixty years but they still have not get liberation as many of them are still treated as slaves. Addressing media persons, Avinash Jadhav spoke about how he had planned to carry out a protest, for which he had got banners and placards but instead spent the day at the Panjim Police station.

He questioned why this was done, and asked the government if they thought he was a terrorist.

He said he was only trying to make genuine demands such as the provision of basic facilities, amneties and schemes to their community as well as constructing roads to where they stay amongst other things.
