The Feast of St. Peter and St. Paul, popularly known as Sangodd, was celebrated with deep faith and traditional fervour in Vasco on Sunday, with members of the fishing community participating in special religious ceremonies.
The celebrations began with fishermen gathering at the Old Cross Chapel to offer prayers, seeking the blessings of the patron saints for protection and prosperity. A procession was then held from the chapel to the fishing jetty, where the faithful joined in the observance.

As part of the centuries-old tradition, brightly decorated fishing boats were blessed before setting sail into the Arabian Sea. The ceremony symbolised prayers for a safe, abundant, and successful fishing season, reflecting the strong bond between Goa’s coastal communities and their maritime heritage.
