Sanguem Municipal Councillor Meshu D’Costa has raised concerns over a recent increase in water bills issued by the Drinking Water Department, following complaints from residents about unusually high charges.
D’Costa said several consumers have reported receiving inflated bills without any clear explanation, placing an added financial burden on households. He called on the department to immediately clarify the reasons behind the sudden hike and address the grievances of affected residents.
The councillor has given authorities a 15-day ultimatum to investigate the matter, correct any discrepancies, and provide relief to consumers. He warned that if the issue is not resolved within the stipulated time, further action will be taken in the interest of the public.
