SANGUEM: With the IIT almost being certain of making its abode in the lush green fields at Cotarli in Sanguem, the farmers from Sanguem have convened a meeting at Orcotto on February 18 at 3 pm, to discuss the impact the IIT project would have on farming.
The government has identified around 12 lakh sq mtrs of land in Cotarli and part of Nagvem in Quepem taluka of which around 9 lakh sq mtrs of land belongs to the government.
The officials concerned with the land acquisition process have already issued notices to the parties concerned and in some cases even claim forms have been distributed.
As the farmers have still not been taken into confidence by the government, the meet scheduled on Sunday expected come out with a decision on the land acquisition matter.
