SANGUEM: The road leading to Sanguem Industrial Estate, which also proceeds to Selaulim water treatment plant, is totally in bad shape and needs urgent repairs.
The road is totally washed away in the monsoon at Cotarli-Uguem, where a large number of potholes can be seen, making it a risky affair for the commuters to use the road.
While the road stands exclusively used by the vehicles proceeding to the Sanguem Industrial Estate, the effects of the bad roads are more felt by the villagers residing at Cotarli and Xelpem, as they find it more precarious in using the road with their two-wheeler as the side portion on either side of the road is cut and there is no way left for the two-wheeler riders to move to the side, whenever six-wheeler vehicles come in the opposite direction.
Driving/riding in the night is made all the more dangerous as the vehicle riders fail to notice the numerous potholes filled with water leading to lose control of the wheels in many cases.
A frequent road user to Sanguem Industrial Estate, Josinho D’Costa said that the road at Cotarli village gets washed away during every monsoon as the authorities have failed in making provision for water drainage on either side of the road. This leads to accumulation of water on the main road leading to potholes.
