MARGAO: The much awaited Sanskruti Bhavan was inaugurated on Sunday by Navelim MLA Avertano Furtado and Panjim MLA and GSIDC Vice Chairman Sidharth Kuncolienkar, at Davorlim.
The Sanskruti Bhavan was funded by the Directorate of Tribal Affairs under the tribal welfare scheme as the area has a sizeable ST population and was constructed by the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC)
Sandhya Kamat, Director of Tribal Welfare; South ZP members Ulhas Tuenker, Davorlim Sarpanch Tulshidas Desai, Navelim Sarpanch Frank Fernandes and Davorlim Parish Priest Fr Protacio Colaco Soares attended the inauguration.
On the occasion, the fisheries minister informed that next week they would lay the foundation stone for the work of the cemetery; the ground work for the rail over bridge would begin soon, as well as the remaining work on the roads and LED lights for the bridge. “Work is underway to build a school in the area as well,” he added.
The Sanskruti Bhavan that can accommodate a large gathering of people is meant for the villagers and has various facilities meant for their welfare and upliftment and can also host community activities.
