MARGAO: The Sarzora gram sabha while congratulating Sarpanch Sabita Mascarenhas for being conferred the best social worker award approved a deficit budget of Rs 20,32, 500 which deficit is buffered to a great extent by the opening balance.
The budget estimates shows an expenditure of Rs 81,62,00 as against receipts amounting to only Rs. 61,29,500. However, given the fact that the opening balance is Rs 42,18,259 the deficit is buffered providing a surplus of Rs 21,85,759.
Grant in Aid from the government which is projected at Rs. 20 lakhs is the highest revenue followed by Rs. 5 lakhs each for garbage management and from 14th Finance Commission. The panchayat also projects receipts of Rs 2 lakh from the Tribal Welfare Department.
House tax is expected to contribute Rs 2.5 lakh while only Rs 1 lakh is expected from license fee.
The highest expenditure projected is on Administration where a total Rs 22.42 lakh are expected to be spent including Rs 10 lakh as staff salary and Rs 6 lakh as member salary.
Rs15 lakh each has been projected for construction of roads and drains and for repair and maintenance of roads and culverts while Rs 5 lakh is kept for street light extension and Rs 4 lakh for providing fencing to the panchayat ghar.
All the Rs 5 lakh expected for garbage management will be spent on garbage disposal as per the provision in the budget and while Rs 1 lakh is provided for repair of water wells, Rs 4 lakh is allotted for cutting of bushes.
Deputy Sarpanch Lina Caralho tabled a motion to congratulate Sarpanch Sabita Mascarenhas for the best social worker award conferred on her and the same was unanimously approved by the around 50 villagers present for the gram sabha.
