Sawant 2.0 budget has no new taxes

Two
days after taking oath, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant presented his first budget
of the new tenure without imposing any additional taxes. He assured to work on
reforms and plug revenue leakages and discontinue redundant activities. The
Vote of account was also passed after the Rs 24, 467crore Goa budget was
presented. The budget had several key highlights. Chief Minister ended the
budget speech by saying “Bhivpachi Garaz Nam”.

Chief
Minister Pramod Sawant promised resumption of mining activities, voluntary
retirement scheme for govt servants, 12% hike in allocation to the health
sector, Modern bus stands proposed at Panjim and Margao on a PPP model and
completion of Zuari Bridge by June 2022 and completion of Mopa airport by
August 2022. Here are the highlights:

The
total Goa Budget outlay for the financial year 2022-23 is Rs 24,467
crore  

Govt
is making all efforts to resume mining activities in the State: CM Sawant

Chief
Minister said, “we are confident that Goa will generate Rs 650cr revenue in the
year 2022-23 through mining activities”

“We
will have put in place dump policy and mining corporation is also set up,” CM
Sawant said

Govt
proposes voluntary retirement scheme for government employees in Budget 2022-23

Goa
Karmachari Medical insurance scheme for employees will be introduced soon 

Health
allocation of Rs 1970.20 crores is 12% more than last year

For
universal health coverage, Rs 65 crores allocated to Deen
Dayal Swasthya Seva Yojana

Wholesale
fish market at Margao has been taken up; cold storage facility work to be taken
up this year

Modern
bus stands proposed at Panjim and Margao on a PPP model

Mopa
Airport to be commissioned by August 2022, on the occasion of India’s 75th
Independence year

 New Zuari Bridge to be completed by June 2022
