PANJIM: The Supreme Court is expected to deliver the judgement on the special leave petition (SLP) filed by the Goa government challenging the High Court of Bombay at Goa order setting aside reservation of wards in five municipal councils on Friday.
After hearing arguments from both parties on Tuesday, the apex court had reserved the order and the bench comprising Justice Rohington Fali Nariman, Justice B R Gavai and Justice Hrishikesh Roy had allowed ‘written submissions’ if any by Friday.

The Goa government had approached the Supreme Court praying for a stay the High Court’s order setting aside delimitation and reservation of wards in Mormugao, Margao, Mapusa, Quepem and Sanguem municipal councils.
At the same time, five petitioners – Fauziya Imtiaz Shaikh, Romaldo Fernandes, Manuel Colaco, Michael Carrasco and Gaurav Madkaikar – had also filed caveats in the Supreme Court praying that they be heard before passing any orders.
After the Apex court granted a stay last week, the Goa State Election Commission restarted the election process and rescheduled the polling in five municipal councils to March 21.
