PANJIM: In view of ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) has directed schools to undertake internal assessment of students of Class X and XII throughout the current academic year 2021-22 and to keep the performance report in digital format.
The GBSHSE has approved ‘Special Scheme of Assessment’ for Board examination of Class X and XII for the ongoing academic year, as per which there would be two terms — one ending November-December and second March-April 2022 with three periodic test of which the third one would be creative one besides practicals and other activities.

The Goa Board Secretary Geraldina Mendes in a circular issued said that the scheme will facilitate schools to undertake students’ assessment both in offline or online mode. The Board has said that the schools will continue to teach in online mode, till authorities permit offline mode of teaching in schools.
Mendes said that the results of Class X and XII 2021 Board declared on the basis of assessment policy, necessitated deliberations over alternative ways to look at the learning objectives as well as the conduct of the Board Examination for the academic session 2021-22 in case the situation remains unfeasible.
The GBSHSE has held discussion with different stakeholders and Academic Council of the Board, Examination Committee of the Board, President of Principal Forum and Goa Headmaster Association in this regard.
“It is revealed that the rationalised (curtailed) syllabus notified for the session 2020-21 was effective for schools in covering the syllabus and helped learners in achieving learning objectives in a less stressful manner,” the Board said.
