PANJIM: The Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Sunday announced the government has taken up the responsibility to identify dedicated spaces for setting up exhibition cum sale stalls at various public places to showcase and market products made by several self help groups (SHG).
“Empowering women would be a step towards achieving the Swayampurna Goem initiative,” said Sawant during the launch of ‘www.goabazaar.org’- a dedicated website under Goa State Rural Livelihood Mission (GSRLM).
He lamented that while SHGs produce lot of products, in absence of proper marketing facility, there are limited takers.
“Directions have been issued to the departments, to identify vacant spaces, within their jurisdiction, to put up permanent stalls,” he added.
“The SHGs can showcase and market their products through this stalls,” CM said.
As of date, GSRLM is working with 3000 SHGs covering 36,000 house-holds authentic Goan food products.
With the launch of website, the government has brought all SHGs products under one brand name and logo, to capture urban niche markets. All the products will be sold under the brand name ‘Stree Shakti’.
Over 200 products from 157 SHGs can initially be purchased through Goa Bazaar website.
