MARGAO: With the effective implementation of the Time-Bound Service Delivery Act and bringing strong Goa Lokayukta Act, the Congress government will make Goa a model State in the country with a complete wipe out of corruption, stated Congress President Girish Chodankar.
He said that the Congress after coming to power in 2022 will put an end to corruption in Goa. He was speaking at ‘Swatantra Senani – Shahid Sanmaan Diwas” organised by the South Goa District Congress Committee at Margao as a part of the AICC program to celebrate 75 years of independence.
Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat, Navelim MLA Luizinho Faleiro, South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha, GPCC Vice President M K Shaikh, General Secretary Subhash Faldessai, Vithoba Dessai, Peter Gomes, Adv. Yemane D’Souza, John Pereira, Avinash Shirodkar, District Office Bearers, Block Presidents, and others were present for the function.
Freedom Fighters Gopal Chitari, Ramakant Kesarkar, Anthony Fernandes, Vaman Prabhugaonkar, and Rama Budholkar were felicitated at the hands of senior Congress leaders in recognition of their immense contribution to the freedom struggle.
“Our senior leader and former union law minister Adv Ramakant Khalap had drafted a strong Goa Lokayukta Bill when he was the chairman of the Goa Law Commission. But, then chief minister late Manohar Parrikar shelved the said bill as he wanted to promote corruption in Goa. The same bill was again tabled by Digambar Kamat in the last Assembly session, but Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant had no guts to discuss and pass the bill and hence they did not even list the bill in the business of the House”, said Girish.
Kamat while speaking on the occasion said that in the 75th year of independence we all must rise to protect the identity of Goa and preserve its heritage.
He said that BJP government is suppressing the voice of the people.
