PANJIM: Ahead of the panchayat election due in June, the State Election Commission (SEC) has sought views on draft delimitation proposals of 186 panchayats that will be made public from Thursday.
Following recent amendment to the Goa Panchayat Raj Act, 1994, the task of dividing Panchayat area into wards and reservation of seats was assigned to SEC in consultation with the Government.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, SEC said that the draft delimitation proposal will be kept open for public from February 24 to March 2 for submission of their suggestions, modifications and corrections on panchayat wards.
The draft proposals were prepared by the Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) which is been prepared based on draft electoral roll 2021 as well as 2022 roll.
The mamlatdars and joint mamlatdars have been appointed as the EROs and Awal Karkuna or Head clerks as Assistant EROs for carrying out the task.
