MARGAO: The hot pursuit of former Minister Mickky Pacheco by the government came to a dramatic end on Thursday. On one side, Pacheco, who was earlier castigated by Health Minister for refusing to be quarantined, visited GMC , where was asked to be quarantined at home.
However, on the other side, police received the information that Pacheco was supposed to address a press conference in Margao and led by the DYSP , they gathered at the location along with the Deputy Collector and other officials.
While they failed to meet him, Pacheco rejected speculation that he was evading the health department and claimed that six police vehicles and an ambulance had come by his place on Wednesday night and had taken photos, which had disturbed his family.
Putting an end to the confusion, Pacheco said he received a letter from Dr Edwin Gomes, HoD Medicine at GMC, stating that he should be quarantined at home till a further date. This was later confirmed by South District Collector, Ajit Roy, who stated that Pacheco’s blood samples had been taken and till the reports come in, Pacheco has been advised to avoid crowded places, which Roy said he had agreed to.
However, Pacheco hit out at the government and BJP for conspiring against him to stop him from campaigning for the ZP elections.
He accused Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao of creating and circulating an audio message that claimed he was evading medical attention. “The Health Minister is not capable of handling his position as there is no control yet on the flights coming from Dubai to Goa. Flights are still plying” Pacheco added.
