Carrying saffron party flags, the Shiv Sena marched to the Municipal building and later submitted a memorandum to Chief Officer demanding action against all the encroachments in the city. They pointed out that the places and areas hit by encroachments and the illegal activities carried out unscrupulous elements right under the nose of the municipal authorities.
The Chief Officer’s attention was drawn to the mushrooming number of hawkers, hand carts etc causing traffic bottle necks in the city. They also pointed out to the illegal business taking place at the SGPDA wholesale fish market in violation of the rules.
After giving a patient hearing, the MMC Chief Officer has promised action against the encroachments and illegal business activities.
South Goa Shiv Sena President Dhanraj Yeshwant Naik said the Shiv Sena will offer full cooperation to the Civic body to crack a whip against the encroachments, even as SS deputy Chief, South Goa Raju Virdikar warned that the SS will not remain a silent spectators to the rampant illegalities.
